Oh, Irene!

Cheeky girl!  Sorry for disappearing for a bit, blog-land, but between the earthquake and hurricane, i’ve been a busy boy!

All in all, it was a disappointing storm, especially when you consider all the buildup from the weather stations: those meteorologists sure get excited over a storm.  Not that i’m complaining, believe me, i’d rather not get 12 inches of rain in a few hours!    The garden escaped mostly unscathed, our biggest loss being the 11 foot tall sunflowers in the front yard. Fear not gold finches, there are still a few sunflowers hanging on for your dinner.  I guess one of the perks of getting dumped on, is you do’t have to water for a few days.  The rain barrel (only 125 gallons) filled up in a few minutes of the downpour, but that’s 125 less gallons down the sewer and into my veggies!
